Technology due diligence
We get under the hood before you invest, looking at the technology, product and team behind the investment case.
Run by people who’ve done the job
Our diligence is led by operators who have actually run technology and product functions. They know what good looks like, where the risks hide and what it takes to deliver the plan, because they’ve done it themselves.
Private Equity
Before you sign, we tell you whether the technology can carry the plan. After the deal, we turn that read into the first 100-days plan. And before you approach a target, we test the technology behind the buy-and-build thesis.
Venture Capital
The next round is coming. We tell you whether the technology is ready for it, especially when there’s no in-house technology partner to give you the answer.
How it works
Our process
-
Scope
We scope against your investment thesis, not a standard checklist. The questions depend on what you’re actually trying to prove.
-
Assess
We look at architecture, scalability, technical debt, cyber, key-person risk and roadmap, through the eyes of someone who’s owned them.
-
Findings
We tell you what’s broken, what’s fragile and what it will cost to fix. The important issues are ranked, not just listed.
-
Plan
We turn the findings into a plan for the first 100 days, including an operator placement if the assessment turns up a leadership gap.
FAQs
What we look at, who does the work, and what you get at the end.
How quickly can you move?
We can have the right operator on it within days. How long the work takes depends on scope and how much access we get. Tell us your deadline and we’ll tell you straight whether it’s achievable.
Who does the work?
Operators from The Bench who have run technology functions in comparable businesses.
What happens after the report?
Most clients take the findings and act on them. If the report identifies a leadership gap you want filled, we can do that. The operators who run the diligence are paid for the diligence and carry no placement incentive, so nobody has a reason to find a problem that is not there.
